Patient Confidentiality
We respect your right to privacy and keep all your health information confidential and secure. It is important that the NHS keeps accurate and up-to-date records about your health and treatment so that those treating you can give you the best possible care.
This information may be used for management and audit purposes. However, it is usually only available to, and used by, those involved in your care. You have the right to know what information we hold about you. If you would like to see your records please contact the Practice Manager.

The Practice has adopted the standards set within NHS Information Goverance. This ensures that personal information is handled legally, securely, efficiently and effectively in order to deliver the best possible care.
Summary Care Record
– Important information regarding your NHS medical records
The NHS in England is introducing the Summary Care Record, which will be used in emergency care situations.
The record will contain information about any medicines you are taking, allergies you suffer from and any bad reactions to medicines you have had to ensure those caring for you have enough information to treat you safely. This information will be available to authorised health care staff providing your care anywhere in England.

Health & Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC)
Information about you and the care you receive is shared in a secure system by healthcare staff to support your treatment & care. The NHS uses this information to research, plan and improve services for all patients by linking all the different places where you receive care such as your GP, hospital and community service, to help provide a full picture. Information such as your postcode and NHS number, but not your name or address is used to link your records to a secure system so your identity is protected. How your information is used and shared is controlled by law and strict rules are in place to protect your privacy. If you do not want information about you to be shared outside the practice you have the right to prevent this.
